Malta - Die kleinsten Länder fallen scheinbar gerne durch lange Teilnehmerlisten auf. So auch Malta: aus den 161 Einsendungen beim maltesischen Fernsehen haben 62 die zweite Runde im Rennen um die Vertretung der Mittelmeerinseln in Baku erreicht.

Wer in den vergangenen Jahren den maltesischen Vorentscheid verfolgt hat, wird viele der Interpreten kennen, die Geschwister Faniello versuchen es wieder einmal unabhängig voneinander, ebenfalls Stammgäste beim maltesischen Vorentscheid sind u.a. Eleanor Cassar, J. Anvil, Jessica Muscat, Klinsmann Coleiro, Ludwig Galea, der Malta 2004 vertreten hat und Wayne Micallef.
Diese 62 Teilnehmer werden nun hinter verschlossenen Türen vor einer Jury singen und ihre Live-Gesangsqualitäten unter Beweis stellen. 24 davon schaffen es dann ins Halbfinale, welches am 27. Januar 2012 stattfindet. Nur 16 schaffen es daraufhin ins Finale, das am Tag darauf ausgetragen wird.
